  1. In 2012, our old Austin, Texas neighborhood had a problem with gas leaks. And the worst thing possible happened to one property. Thanks to a gas leak, a house at 1712 Payne Avenue exploded and burned with the owner inside. Surrounding houses suffered damage. The blown-up house was located less than a mile from where my wife and I used to live. It looked like a bomb had been dropped on it.

So, is a gas leak really responsible for the Silver Springs apartment fire? Maybe. One resident says there was a strong smell of gas in the air immediately before the explosion. Maybe that's a truthful statement. We'll see.

I'm being the devil's advocate here, I know. I'm really not eager to defend people who make illegal drugs in their apartments.
