ATR: I lived in Austin years ago.

Pflugerville at that time was a little farming community.

Now that east Austin is being gentrified the POCs have moved to ‘burbs like Pflugerville.

With predictable results.

LITTLE KNOWN HISTORY OF PFLUGERVILLE(BECAUSE I JUST MADE IT UP)
Pflugerville USED to be called Hooterville--back in the days when it was 100 % White. Then, when blacks began showing up(a little at a time at first),the name was changed to Pflugerville by those same Whites. It was a little joke amongst the White townsfolk, that the blacks would never be able to spell the new name of the city--and they couldn't--and might even move out after a while--they didn't.
More importantly to the story,"Pfluger" was also a "made up" word for a nig*er.
"Here comes some more pflugers from the city,"the Whites would say, from their tractors, lawn mowers, hammocks and front yards, viewing the parade of negro jalopies winding their way down the dirt road.
"Damn lazy pflugers should have just stayed in Alabama,"another White farmer would add.
"Or Africa,"added another,wiping his brow.
Legend has it that a "pfluger" was a combination of two or three words, first said by a slightly inebriated resident by the name of Vernon Jones. After seeing the first blacks walk by the local bar,in 1978,Vernon WANTED TO yell out,"fu**ing nig*ers",but what ACTUALLY left his lips was a combination of the "f" word and the "n" word--"PFLUGER!!!"
And it stuck--thanks to best friend Dusty Phillips, who witnessed the moment, which led to the name of Pflugerville.
The End.
