Lira and Balderas have both been booked into the Dallas County jail. Bail has been set at $100,000 for both people, but they each have immigration holds. Balderas also has three outstanding warrants against him from Dallas police.

The names sound Hispanic. While some may think the woman looks white, those of us who have lived among large numbers of Hispanics know that just as some members of the Black Bear species have a reddish color, so there is a red phase among Hispanics. Of course there are beasts among all races, but Hispanics seem to be particularly vulnerable to cruel impulses. Perhaps it is from the Spanish side--remember the Spanish Inquisition and the many cruelties by the Spanish Conquistadors. Or maybe it is from the American Indian side as so many of those tribes took delight in fiendish tortures of their captives.
