GET-TV airs oldie programs including "Sonny and Cher","The Johnny Cash Show","Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour"and "All in the Family".
I still watch "AITF"--especially the first 5 years--great laughs.
Year 6 is underway in the GET-TV cycle,with tonight,episodes 13 and 14 (Gloria is overdue),airing at 8pm and 830 respectively.But as I checked the on-screen program guide for episodes 15 and 16,I was surprised (but not surprised)that the two part "Gloria has a Baby" shows were MISSING--gone.
Why?Only one reason:Archie is in blackface for "a menstrual show"(as I remember him saying)with his buddies Barney and crew--for almost the full 48 minutes,but now,I assume,never to be seen again.
I have no info on who lodged protests to GET-TV,but whatever led up to this decision by said network,they went totally PC and caved in by censoring/banning two episodes of a TV show strictly because of blackface.
Over the years before these episodes,Archie famously said,"The coons are coming" and "You can take the blacks out of the jungle,but you can't take the jungle out of the blacks"--among other famous quotes that WEREN'T banned(yet).However,the blackface stuff must go.
"Awww jeez",Archie might say,"the idiots running this here network are real DINGBATS."
To which GET-TV replied,"Archie--STIFLE!!!"
