Barr speaks at the Federalist Society's National Lawyers Convention

Title of Barr speech: “Constitutional Approach to Executive Power.”

Barr begins speaking at about the 5 m mark. Introductory remarks take up the next few minutes. Then the substance begins –

9:46 - historical background on the presidency, why the Framers opted for a strong executive (unlike the Mother country Great Britain).

29:30 - [extremely powerful here]: Barr on the transformation of the opposition party (the Democrats) into “The Resistance.” This began at the very beginning of the Trump presidency. One example: In the Senate, where the Republicans have the majority, the Democrats nonetheless forced 236 “cloture votes” on Trump nominees. The purpose was to delay/cripple/disrupt the Trump presidency as much as Democrats could, even though the nominees would all be eventually approved because Republicans have a majority in the Senate. (My understanding is that filibustering a nominee means an additional 30 hours delay per nominee. So a vast amount of legislative time is devoted to blocking proper staffing of the executive branch.)

Next Barr talks about the drowning of the executive branch with oversight demands, i.e., an “avalanche of subpoenas,” to incapacitate the Trump presidency to the fullest extent.

43:00 - Judicial usurpation of executive power - The travel ban, for example, meant judicial intrusion into national security decision-making. There were 40+ nationwide injunctions by leftist litigants forum-shopping for maximum disruptive effect. There were 40+ injunctions against Trump vs. 2 for Obama in his first term. (Those 2 were quickly struck down by the 9th Circuit in Obama’s case.)

NO! The opposition to Don began even before the man won the nomination. They were out to get Don from the very start.

NOW the fools are calling for the impeachment of Barr.

Those injunctions chosen to be in front of judges cherry picked so the litigants knew they could get a favorable decision.
